Survey Field Technician/Crew Chief

Ed Holmes and Associates Land Surveyors is currently seeking applicants for Survey Field 
Technician/Crew Chief for full time employment. Said technician will work primarily in the field, but 
with opportunities for growth, including full survey-related education expenses paid by Company, on the 
job training and support, and licensure expenses and testing fees paid by Company. Based in Asheville, 
NC, EHA serves both private and public entities on both design and construction related projects in 
North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. 

Description 
- Work in family oriented team environment 
- Out of town overnight travel not required 
- Overtime available at time and a half pay, but not required

- Take lead in executing field surveys such as boundary, topographic, ALTA, as-built, and route 
surveys accurately and efficiently 
- Provide leadership in vehicle, instrument, and equipment care and maintenance 
- Supervise other crew members in proper surveying techniques and equipment operations 
- Develop thorough and accurate field notes, data collection, survey reports, and calculations 
- Proactively provide routine communications to supervisors and project managers 

Position Requirements 
- High School diploma 
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record 
- Minimum of 5 years progressive survey experience including experience as Survey Crew Chief 
- Proficiency with field survey instruments 
- Proficiency using laptop computers, data collectors, and survey related software 
- Ability to read plans/blueprints 
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment 
- Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather, carry heavy loads, and work long hours 
- Ability to work independently or as part of a survey crew 
- Trimble Robotics and Trimble Business Center a plus
