Position summary
Direct Support Professionals (DSP) are responsible for assisting in the supervision and/or goals/training of members diagnosed with Intellectual Developmental Delays. This is a one-on-one service with a IDD member. This is a therapeutic relationship, which is to assist the individual in therapy to change his or her life for the better. Trust, respect, and person-centered therapy are major components of a good therapeutic relationship.

Special Skills and Abilities
Ability to work effectively with individuals with special needs. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to accurately record data and document observations events in medication. Ability to communicate with other staff and members of the community. Be a flexible team player.
Safety
Behavior problems, such as aggression of members, and or lifting, could cause bodily injury. WNC Direct Care provides NCI + intervention training to help promote safety for all members and staff in the community.
Working Conditions
Employees are expected to provide services both indoors and outdoors. Exposure to toileting and feeding are based on the needs of the member and communicated to employee prior to assignment. It is important for our team to match the right DSP with the right member.
