Green Roof Technician I (Landscape Construction)

Founded in 2006, Living Roofs, Inc. is an award-winning construction, design, and maintenance company specializing in high performing landscape-on-structure projects including green roofs, amenity terraces, and living walls.

The Green Roof Technician I reports to the Construction Manager with work activities directed by the Construction Foreman, installing green roofs, living walls, and amenity terraces on commercial and residential construction projects. The position is based out of Asheville, NC and requires frequent weekly travel, Monday through Friday, to project sites located across North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, and Georgia.

This is an entry level position, and no previous green roof installation experience is required. Candidates with work experience in construction, landscaping, roofing, masonry, or related fields as well as candidates with education or experience in environmental studies or similar fields are encouraged to apply. Key Responsibilities:

• Always work safely and in compliance with the LRI Safety Program.
• Securely load and unload trucks with equipment and materials.
• Safely operate company vehicles and transport crew members, equipment, and materials.
• Install green roof materials including base components, soil, plant material, rock, and edging.
• Install rooftop amenity terrace components including pedestal paver systems and planters.
• Install, calibrate, and troubleshoot irrigation systems.
• Assist forklift operators, crane operators, riggers, and signalers.
• Operate handheld power equipment including drills, concrete saws, angle grinders, etc.
• Assist with maintenance visits as needed, including identifying plants and removing weeds.

Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:

• Familiarity with landscaping, construction, or related industries.
• Ability to routinely travel overnight for project work Monday through Friday.
• Must have a valid driver’s license with insurable driving record.
• Must have a great attitude and strong work ethic.
• Must be punctual, a team player, and a good communicator.

Physical Requirements:

• Outdoor work in all types of weather, including heat, cold, sun, wind, rain, and snow.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and squat for prolonged periods of time.

Pay & Benefits – Compensation is $24.10/hr. Employees traveling overnight receive a Per Diem for meals & incidental expenses.
