About MA|CK

MA|CK Constructors is an established general contractor specializing in custom homes, residential construction, and renovations throughout the Asheville area. We take pride in building high-quality homes, providing an exceptional client experience, and developing lasting relationships with our clients, subcontractors, and vendors.

We're a small, family-oriented company where every team member plays an important role. We believe work should be a rewarding part of a full and balanced life, and we value independence, flexibility, personal responsibility, and mutual respect.

Our team operates primarily from home and our jobsites, with considerable freedom in how work gets accomplished. We don't micromanage. Instead, we trust our people to take initiative, exercise good judgment, and follow through on their responsibilities.

We're pursuing thoughtful, sustainable growth through an efficient business model, and we encourage our team members to contribute ideas, improve our processes, and help shape the company's future.

About the Position

We're seeking a motivated, highly organized Project Coordinator to support our construction operations from preconstruction through project completion and warranty service.

Working closely with the Owner and Construction Manager, you'll help keep projects organized, coordinate purchasing and scheduling, communicate with clients and trade partners, and ensure important details don't fall through the cracks.

This is not a traditional desk-based administrative position. We're looking for a proactive, self-directed individual who enjoys solving problems, anticipates what needs to happen next, and takes ownership of responsibilities from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities

Project Administration & Coordination

  • Maintain accurate project records, budgets, schedules, and documentation in JobTread.
  • Prepare and track purchase orders, subcontracts, work orders, and other project documents.
  • Coordinate with the Construction Manager on schedules, upcoming activities, material deliveries, and inspections.
  • Track outstanding tasks, decisions, and commitments through completion.

Purchasing, Selections & Cost Control

  • Coordinate material purchasing, orders, deliveries, and subcontractor commitments.
  • Track client selections, communicate deadlines, and document approvals.
  • Prepare and track change orders and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with reviewing invoices, purchase orders, and project costs.

Estimating & Preconstruction

  • Assist with construction takeoffs, estimating, and subcontractor bid solicitation.
  • Organize proposals, follow up on outstanding bids, and assist with scopes of work.
  • Help transition projects from preconstruction into active construction.

Project Closeout & Warranty

  • Coordinate punch lists, closeout documentation, and client turnover.
  • Serve as the primary administrative contact for warranty requests.
  • Coordinate warranty service with subcontractors and vendors, communicate with clients, and track issues through resolution.

Who We're Looking For

Our ideal candidate is someone who thrives with independence, enjoys variety, and takes pride in doing things well.

  • Construction industry experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand residential construction plans, or the willingness to learn.
  • Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and follow-through.
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, and comfortable working without constant supervision.
  • Able to manage competing priorities across multiple projects.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence working directly with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Comfortable with computers, spreadsheets, and construction management software; JobTread experience is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of construction scheduling, purchasing, budgets, and change orders preferred.
  • Ability to visit local jobsites as needed.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who naturally recognizes what needs to be done, takes initiative, and follows through without waiting for step-by-step instructions.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Starting at $52,000–$68,000, based on experience, including performance-based bonuses and profit-sharing opportunities.
  • Paid time off and holidays.
  • Flexible working hours and a primarily home-based/jobsite work environment.
  • Vehicle and phone allowance.
  • Professional development, training, and mentorship.
  • Opportunities for increasing responsibility, career advancement, and income.

Your Future at MA|CK
